1. In time for Memorial Day, The Homestead Resort, will be opening Allegheny Spring, the resort’s expanded pool complex pictured above. As part of The Homestead’s “Next Chapter,” 3north Principal David Rau has overseen the design of the new complex fed by natural springs.

David’s training in classical architecture and 3north’s long-standing relationship with The Homestead have helped ensure that the improvements are in keeping with the original design aesthetic of “Virginia’s Most Historic Resort.”

3north is also overseeing the design of the other improvements to the resort including:

    • The Spa Garden, opening later this year
    • Two new dining establishments
    • The Mini Cascades, a new miniature golf course adjacent to Allegheny Spring

More information on the $25 million in improvements may be found here

  6. Renovations and improvements are nearing completion at Early Mountain Vineyards in Madison County, Virginia. Janie Molster of Janie Molster Designs introduced 3north Principal Jay Hugo to the new owners of the vineyards last fall as they sought to make the existing tasting room and winery more open and inviting for visitors and as an event venue. Exterior improvements as depicted in the rendering above and in the construction photo from the Early Mountain Facebook page will include a new rear terrace and outdoor fireplace.

Other improvements to the state-of-the-art winery include a renovated tasting room with new tasting bar and retail market, upgrades to the event space and gallery, and new landscaping (in collaboration with Jessica Primm) at the wedding terrace and winery building. Ilex Construction is serving as the general contractor, and the new space will be completed by Memorial Day.
